The Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Oforikrom Hon. Henry Osei Akoto has responded to claims by the Director of Health Promotion at the Ghana Health Service that Ghana almost recorded zero cases.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show, the Director, Dr. Aboagye Dacosta claimed that the country almost recorded zero active cases but for the recent Christmas festivities which has resulted in a new wave of infections.
“We almost recorded zero active cases but now the cases have started shooting up again…we suspect they are due to the festive activities; nightclubs, pubs that are operating when they are not supposed to etc…Ghanaians lowered their guards,” Dr Aboagye Dacosta said.
Responding to the claim by Dr. Aboagye Dacosta, the 2020 NDC PC purported to say the health expert was being dishonest for saying we almost recorded zero cases because according to some commentaries, we were not recording cases because there was no testing going on.
The PC said if the managers of the health system keep lying like the Vice President, the virus will expose them.
Tempers have been rising as the country faces an increase in number of COVID-19 cases. The President has tasked the Ghana Police Service to enforce the wearing of nose masks to avert plunging the country into a new lockdown.
