A remake is in the works of the cult classic movie Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead!
The new take on the 1991 movie will center on a black family and it will feature a diverse cast, according to Deadline
The original movie follows “Sue Ellen Crandell, a teenager who is forced to take charge of her four younger siblings when their mom leaves town and the wicked babysitter her mother hired suddenly dies.”
“Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead is an iconic cult classic,” said Treehouse president Justin Nappi. “We look forward to bringing audiences a new interpretation that is as funny and outrageous as the original but also smart and connected to the world today.”
Beauty Shop and Honey director Bille Woodruff will direct the movie with a script by Chuck Hayward, who wrote the Netflix film Step Sisters. Nappi is producing the movie with Juliet Berman and Oren Segal.
It was recently announced that a movie from the 1970s will be remade as well!
