‘I say Excellent’ – Koku Anyidoho hails Akufo-Addo’s Covid-19 ‘leadership’

Executive Director of the Atta Mills Memorial Institute, Koku Anyidoho has rated President Akufo-Addo as “excellent” in his handling of the Covid-19 crisis in Ghana as Akufo-Addo is taking advantage of the “necessities” of Covid-19.

Ghana has recorded 93 cases of COVID-19 with four deaths with one recovery.

Mr. Anyidoho’s comment comes after the NDC set up a 13-member committee made of some former government appointees to avail their expertise towards government’s fight against the disease.

Mr Anyidoho, who is the Director of the Atta Mills Memorial
Institute, in reacting to the series of measure Akufo-Addo has outlined said he
was happy about the President’s decision to use Covid-19 to boost Ghanaian
entrepreneurship and capacity, especially the pharmaceutical and said “this
call as one in the right direction”.

He was speaking on CTV’s flagship Dwabirem show monitored by

“The pandemic presents an opportunity to transform the mindset
of Ghanaians for nation-building…. I recently heard the President that we
should be self-producing and I say ‘excellent’, because necessity is the mother
of inventions”

“From time immemorial, necessity has always been the mother
of invention, so, for me, I found the President’s call in the right direction”
he added.

He added that there is the need for the Covid-19 pandemic to
inspire Ghanaians to change their mindset towards nation-building.

“Let us use this opportunity; I say opportunity from
sociological functionalist’s perspective, to begin to think very deep about
transforming our mindset for nation-building and that is what the Atta Mills
Memorial Institute is doing from the school level.”
