Staff and stakeholders of Stanbic Bank Ghana have donated an amount of GHS80,000 to an eleven-week old baby, Abdul Yusuf Rauf, who has to go through a heart defect corrective surgery.
Abdul Yusuf Rauf, born on September 9, 2019, has been battling with congenital heart disease for some time now.
The first stage of the process will entail a creation of a channel in one of the internal walls of the heart to improve oxygenation while the second stage is an open heart operation.
Sulemana Mariah, mother of the baby and a loyal customer of the bank requested for a loan and was granted GHS30,000 which was payable within five years per her salary though the procedures cost $27,000.
However, the stakeholders and employees of the financial institution contributed to raise GHS40,000 each to assist the baby.
Presenting the cheque to the family, Managing Director of Stanbic Bank Ghana, Andani Alhassan expressed his delight at the efforts made by staff of the bank.
“I am delighted to say that the staff actually raised forty thousand Ghana Cedis and we were supposed to add twenty thousand which has been raised but the bank is going to add the forty thousand raised by staff with forty thousand making eighty thousand in spite of the loan.”
Nonetheless, the Head of Marketing and Communication, Mawuko Afadzinu said the bank has started a social media campaign to engage the public to come forth with their contributions.
He also called for prayers for little Yusuf as he goes through the entire process and intimated that Stanbic Bank cared about its clients and would not look on for customers to suffer.
Sulemana narrated her ordeal as she was being presented with the donation and thanked God and everyone present for their efforts in helping save the life of her child.
Meanwhile, staff of the bank have also made a cash donation of GHS22,850 to Rosa Monique Emefa Djangba another individual suffering from systematic sclerosis.
