There have been increasing calls for the arrest and prosecution of a pastor who has been captured in a viral video flogging members of his church who refused to pay their tithes.

Pastor Paul Muwanguzi, a Ugandan-based pastor at the weekend was seen
in the video subjecting members of his church to stroke of canes one after the
other as the laid prostrate over their refusal to honour their tax obligation.
The members, young and old, were seen lying on the floor as
they took turns to receive their strokes of the cane.
The incident is more incredulous considering that the said
pastor said to be an ex-convict sentenced to four years in jail in Uganda in
2013 for impersonating a Kenyan Catholic priest to extort unsuspecting followers.
After serving part of his sentence, in 2014 he escaped from
prison and fled to Zimbabwe where he was later repatriated back to Uganda in
November 2016 to complete his jail term.
Meanwhile, Head pastor of the New Jerusalem Chapel, Bishop
John Yaw Adu has said “Cursed is on you those who pay tithe with money.
Christians who pay tithe with money have been cursed. It is against the word of
God to pay tithe with money”
Bishop J Y Adu speaking on
Kumasi based Angel Fm Church Bells show host Ike De Unpredictable on Sunday
November 10, 2019 monitored by MyNewsGh.com stated categorically
that there is no blessing in paying tithe with money saying God does not
recognize and accept money as tithe.
Bishop J Y Adu supports his stance with Proverbs 3:9-10 cautioning all those who have been using money as tithe to desist or incur the wrath of God.
