The President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has noted that strenuous efforts by his opponents to make him and his government appear corrupt will not materialise.

“I am aware of the orchestrated attempts by my
opponents to hang the tag of corruption on the necks of my government and
myself despite all the manifest efforts being made to deal with the phenomenon
of corruption. I just have one simple answer for them. It won’t work. I did not
come into public life to enrich myself,” the President declared today at
the Bar Conference today
Many people have accused the President of shielding his
officials who are alleged to have been involved in alleged acts of corruption.
But the President has rejected the assertion, arguing that it is state
institutions that investigate and clear them and not him.
He indicated that the government has either investigated or is investigating all alleged acts of corruption that have been reported in his government.

President Akufo-Addo further added that 21 officials of the past
government who were involved in alleged acts of corruption are before the law
courts to answer various charges.
