Former Chief of Staff under Ex-President Rawlings, Nana Ato Dadzie, has lamented the rising levels of corruption in the country describing them as very depressing.

He is particularly worried that state institutions which are
mandated by law to nib such corrupt acts in the bud are choking while the
country is being consumed by corruption in all sectors
Nana Ato Dadzie said waking up each day to a new corruption
scandal is troubling and warned the increasing corruption cases could sink the image
of the country.
He was reacting to comments by the Dutch Ambassador to
Ghana, urging government to pursue a Ghana beyond corruption agenda instead of
the much touted Ghana beyond Aid.
Speaking on the Key Points on TV3 monitored by MyNewsGh.com, he said “we have heard some horrible exposés of late. Let’s say one day one scandal whatever it is. We put it in almost political terms. What worries me is where are the institutions which has been set up by the state, by the constitution to deal with these problems”
According to him, these scandals were mostly gotten from
social media when the state institutions mandated by the constitution to
protect the public purse sleep away while the country is being consumed by
He challenged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to step up his resolve in corruption fight in the country by ensuring that the various institutions function properly to safeguard the sinking image of the country.

“PDS what not…where did we hear them from? Not from our
regular institutions but from social media. That is my worry and these are not
small matters…they are substantial scandals which our institutions of state
should be able to deal with. We only hear about our institutions when they say
it is not true. I think Mr President must sit up, he must get up and work more
firmly because it is very depressing that you get up every morning and it
happens there and there”, he observed.
