British High Commission pledges support for Year of Return 1

British High Commissioner to Ghana Ian Walker, has emphasized that the year of return means more than just recreation and tourism for the United Kingdom.

He noted that it is a phenomenon that the UK hopes to take advantage of to possibly establish investments as well as explore avenues for some of its nationals to work in Ghana.

“It is a great thing and we are running a number of events and we are bringing people from the UK to Ghana.

We got many people coming all the time but we have some big names coming this time later in the year and we will tell you more on that in due course.

We are supporting it very actively and we are trying to make sure that people don’t just come for a visit but think about ways they can come and stay and possibly invest and carry on with jobs.

We want to make sure that those pathways are a little more obvious.”
