Diana, a Broadway musical about the life of Princess Diana, will premiere in 2020!
Following a sold-out world premiere run at the La Jolla Playhouse in California earlier this year, the musical will premiere on Broadway in March 2020.
Jeanna de Waal will reprise her role as Princess Diana while Roe Hartrampf will play Prince Charles, Erin Davie will play Camilla Parker Bowles, and Judy Kaye will play Queen Elizabeth.
Here is the show’s official synopsis: This is the story of the most famous woman of the modern age: Diana, Princess of Wales. Thrust into a spotlight brighter than any the world had ever known, Diana soon finds herself at odds with her husband, an unrelenting news media, and the monarchy itself. Leading fiercely with her heart, Princess Diana stands up for her family, her country and herself, while managing to capture the hearts of the world. She defied expectations, she rocked the royals and she created a legacy that will endure forever.
Diana will be directed by Come From Away‘s Christopher Ashley with music by Memphis‘ Joe DiPietro and David Bryan. The musical will begin previews on March 2 and the official opening night is March 31.
