Paramount Chiefs in the Upper East Region are appealing for funds to participate in a training programme on traditional leadership organized by the University for Professional Studies at the Otumfuo Centre for Traditional Leadership.

The programme is to equip the traditional leaders with skills in Chieftaincy dispute prevention, Land Administration, Conflict resolution among others.

The Regional House of Chiefs made the appeal when the Upper East Regional Minister handed over the renovated Regional House of Chiefs office to the traditional leaders.

In a speech read by the Vice President of the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs, Naba Baba Salifu Alemyarum on behalf of President of the House of Chiefs, Naba Olando Bosingo Awini, underscored the need for members to take advantage of refresher programs to help them to better rule their subjects.

“This program is organized for chiefs to help in Chieftaincy conflict prevention and litigation free land administration.  I, therefore, wish to appeal to the District and Municipal Assemblies through your high office to support at least paramount chiefs to attend the training program to help update their skills in the area of conflict resolution to enable them to settle conflict-related issues in the region.”

The program is a laudable one but it comes with some financial commitments and given our inability to pay for the fees associated with the training program it is important for us to appeal for funds to participate in the program.”

Naba Olando commended the Regional Minister, Paulina Abayage, for refurbishment and installation of air-conditioners and public address systems at the house thus creating a conducive environment for their works.

For her part, Upper East Regional Minister Paulina Abayage said, fulfilling her desire to get the regional house of chiefs office refurbished was to ensure traditional rulers in the region had comfort in the discharge of their duties.

She added that her outfit in collaboration with the MDAs to continue to support the house in diverse ways to enhance their works.

Madam Abayage reiterated her commitment to liaise with various assemblies in the region to secure funds to participate in the training program.
