Joseph Amoah has officially become the first Ghanaian across all sports to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The 22 year old Coppin State University Junior powered to 2nd position in the men’s 200m at the MEAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, crossing the finish line in a time of 20.20 seconds.

Earlier in the same day Amoah ran a Personal Best of 10.18 (1.2) in the MEAC Championship final to finish 3rd.
The former Prempeh College student’s time also qualifiers him for the World Athletics Championships in Doha in September 2019, making him the second Ghanaian to make the championships so far.
Josephine Anokye has also made it to Doha after a 23.00 seconds run in the women’s 200m last week.
